Casa dos Arandís
Location
Peninsula de Maraú (Southern Bahia, Brazil)
Description
In a beautiful beachfront position on the Maraú peninsula, around a 2½ hour drive north of Ilhéus airport. The beach is huge and generally deserted and guests can easily walk to the nearby village of Algadões where there are plenty of low-key beachfront bars and restaurants. Breakfast and lunch are included and served in a beautifully furnished restaurant area. On the beach are sun loungers and hammocks, and there are other spots to relax in too. A wooden tower overlooks the beach.
Activities
A variety of private excursions can be arranged locally including to Camamú bay - 400 square miles of beaches, mangrove, islands, waterfalls and reefs to explore. Neighbour Marcio gives animated tours of his agroforest, where he produces acaí. Casa dos Arandís has bikes and surf/body boards for guests to borrow, there is a yoga hut where guests are welcome to do their own exercise. There is a small hydro pool and a steam room.
Accommodation
6 beautiful wooden cabins and 1 suite, all dotted around the gardens. Each has its own colour theme and they are all styled in a rustic way in keeping with the area.
Our comments
Our favourite on the peninsula. The property is beautiful and in a great location, but what makes it really special are its owners Cacau and Nanana, as well as the team behind them. The couple fell in love with the area and decided to move here. They now welcome guests to also come and enjoy it, many of whom return again and again. Children are welcome but some of the cabins are quite high off the ground and don't have railings.
