Golf

Latin America offers wonderful golf throughout both South and Central America with a wide range of courses set against a variety of dramatic backdrops. Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and Chile are the more popular destinations for golfers but courses can be found in most countries. Latin America even boasts the world's highest course in Bolivia (La Paz) and the most southern courses in the world in Argentina (Ushuaia). Regardless of skill level, there is something for everyone, be it the lush fairways in the wilds of Patagonia or the luxurious coastal resorts of northern Brazil. The sport is becoming more and more popular in this part of the world, attracting course designers such as Jack Nicklaus, Dan Blankenship and Dr Alister Mackenzie.

Diving

Latin America offers some of the finest diving in the world and has the longest coral reef in the western hemisphere just off Belize. The Galapagos attracts experienced divers from all over the world for the large number of pelagic fishes. For tropical species in warm water, the Los Roques archipelago north of Venezuela is a wonderful experience. The north-east coast of Brazil also offers good diving, particularly off the island of Fernando de Noronha. In Central America, there are world renowned sites throughout the continent stretching north from Costa Rica, notably the famous Blue Hole in Belize, Roatan in Honduras and Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula and Caribbean coast.

Skiing

Chile and Argentina have good skiing in the northern hemisphere's summer (June to October), and one can choose between smart and stylish resorts (with prices to match) and smaller, but far less crowded, slopes.

In Argentina, Ushuaia is home to the southernmost ski resort in the world, Cerro Castor, and although off-piste skiing is the speciality there are also 24 runs covering some 20km of slopes which lead down through an extraordinary landscape of sharp crags and cliffs. Further north Las Lenas, set amidst the Andes in the province of Mendoza, is considered by many as the best ski resort in Argentina with runs suitable for both beginner and experienced skiers. Off-piste, cross-country and heli-skiing are all available and there are 28 pistes and 13 lifts. Cerro Catedral, Bariloche is another popular and well-established area for skiing with 600 hectares of skiable surface and 53 pistes, suitable for a range of abilities.

In Chile the main ski resorts are accessed from Santiago, with Valle Nevado, Portillo, La Parva and El Colorado being the most popular and well-established.

Birding

The areas with the greatest concentration of bird life are the Llanos of Venezuela, the Pantanal in Brazil, and the Iberá marshes in northern Argentina, Costa Rica and Guyana. The Galapagos and Antarctica also attract many keen wildlife enthusiasts. We do not run group birdwatching trips, but have helped many people who prefer to travel on their own.
