Hacienda Pimán
Location
near Ibarra (Otavalo and surrounds, Ecuador)
Description
Built in the 17th century and lovingly restored by the Zaldumbide family (the original owners), the hacienda is set in the peaceful Northern Andes, surrounded by dry forest and 9km from the town of Ibarra. There is a library, heated swimming pool, spa, restaurant (serving traditional home cooked meals) and outdoor dining area.
Activities
There are walks from the hacienda and other activities can be booked and paid for locally. These include mountain biking; visits to the local Afro-Ecuadorian community at El Chota; Ecuador's so-called white city Ibarra, famous for its white-washed colonial quarter; and visits to the market towns of Otavalo and Cotacachi.
Accommodation
There are 7 bedrooms in the original house and 5 separate chalets in the gardens, a short walk from the main house and each with 2 bedrooms. The rooms have a blend of original features and antiques with a modern finish and have a homely feel to them.
Our comments
