Description

Deep in the heart of Chilean Patagonia on the Carretera Austral with views over Lago General Carrera. The nearest settlement (population 500) is Puerto Guadal, 20 minutes away. The nearest airport served by scheduled flights is at Balmaceda, 220km away (4-5 hours by road). The main lodge reception has a large fireplace, informal bar and restaurant.

Activities

Fishing on the mighty Rio Baker, riding, hiking and admiring nature. The lodge has its own series of trails to magnificent viewpoints guests will have all to themselves. It is also possible to charter a small plane for awesome views over the Patagonian Ice Cap.

Accommodation

Accommodation is either in Casa Lenga or one of the comfortable wooden cabins. The cabins all have wood-burning stoves, a sitting area, a dining area with kitchenette, and at least one bathroom. Casa Lenga is a large cabin with 6 bedrooms, all with a private bathroom and a large shared lounge area. All rooms and cavins have panoramic views through ceiling to floor windows.

Our comments

Mallín Colorado has a real family feel to it and is still owned and managed by the family who set it up 30 years ago. It is a perfect destination for wilderness-seekers and those who prefer independence can self-drive, or transfers and excursions can be included.
