Description

A small bed and breakfast style hotel in central La Paz, once home to the Consul of Panama (hence the name).

Accommodation

There is a garden, gallery, shop and cafe open for breakfast and lunch. Next door is the Hotel Europa with an excellent restaurant for evening meals and a piano bar. There are only a handful of rooms all of which are light and airy, have beautiful furniture and comfortable beds.

Our comments

A good small hotel option in La Paz (all other are very much larger business-type hotels). Minimal English (if any) is spoken.

The Hotel Consulado is a little gem and again an extra day there just to relax would have been good. - DH (June 2013)

With hindsight I am glad we chose El Consulado as it was very pretty and the rooms had great character, although at the time as we looked out of our bedroom window into the Europa with all those English speaking waiters etc, we wondered if we had gone completely bonkers. It certainly felt more like a Bed and Breakfast rather than a hotel but when we read the comments in the guestbook this was what everyone really liked about it. - CJ (July 2012)
