Way of the beaten track, along a bumpy (and at times precarious) road, the Hosteria Iruya is a wonderful modern hotel perched above the picturesque Andean village of Iruya with stunning views of the mountains and gorge. Though at altitude, the surrounding trees are teeming with finches and parakeets and the hotel has a large outdoor terrace which overlooks the village, ideal for taking in the panoramic vistas.

The area is a famous for a number of stunning hikes through the mountains to isolated villages and local guides can be organised through the hotel.

Very isolated and difficult to reach, the village is delightful and the scenery truly stunning. Ideal for disconnecting and hiking into the colourful canyons, the drive in along countless hairpin bends is a highlight in itself!
