A South American adventure: letters from George Reid

George Reid (1842-1889) wrote letters home during his time in Argentina and what is now Uruguay from 1867-1870. These have been selected by Valerie Boyle, who published this lovely book in 1999. Sadly now out of print, but highly recommended for a glimpse of what life was like for the early pioneers.

Comments

The book is excellent and full of details of life in a "wild" Argentine province. In the late 1860's. I wonder whether there are many more Letters. It Is a pity that the book has not been reprinted but we must be grateful that It has been published at all.
